The Short Version

We collect your email address (and sometimes your name) when you subscribe to our newsletter or enter one of our promotions. We use it to send you the emails you asked for. We don't sell it. We don't share it beyond what's needed to deliver those emails. You can opt out anytime. That's the spirit of it — the full details are below.

Sofawolf Press is an independent publisher of anthropomorphic fiction, operated by Sofawolf Press INC, based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States of America.

What We Collect and Why

When you subscribe to our newsletter or enter an email sequence through a promotion, we collect:

  • Your email address

  • Your name, if you provide it

  • The date and method of your subscription (for our records and to honor opt-out requests)

  • Basic engagement data (eg: whether emails were opened or links clicked) provided by our email platform

We collect this information because you asked us to send you something. That's the only reason.

Our Email Platform

We use MailerLite to manage our subscriber list and deliver our emails. This means your email address and any associated information is stored on MailerLite's platform.

MailerLite is GDPR-compliant and acts as a data processor on our behalf, meaning they handle your data only as we instruct and are contractually required to protect it. They do not use your data for their own marketing purposes.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — When you subscribe to our newsletter or opt into a promotional email sequence, you are giving us explicit consent to contact you. You may withdraw that consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly.

  • Legitimate interests — We may process basic engagement data (such as open and click rates) to understand how our communications are performing and to improve them. This does not override your rights.

We do not use your email data for automated decision-making or profiling.

  • Request deletion of your personal information

  • Opt out of the sale of your personal information

We do not sell your personal information. Ever. To anyone.

To submit a CCPA request, contact us at privacy@sofawolfpress.com. We will respond within 45 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights under the CCPA.

Email Communications and Unsubscribing

Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're off the list — no confirmation hoops, no guilt trip. We process opt-outs promptly.

If you entered a promotional email sequence (such as a free book offer), you may still receive the remaining emails in that sequence after unsubscribing, depending on timing. After the sequence completes, you will receive no further marketing emails from us.

If you have subscribed to our newsletter separately, that subscription is managed independently.

Data Retention

We retain your email address and subscription data for as long as you remain subscribed, plus a reasonable period afterward to honor suppression lists (so we don't accidentally re-add you). If you request deletion, we will remove your data from our active systems and instruct MailerLite to do the same.

International Data Transfers

MailerLite may store and process data in the United States or other countries. If you are located in the EU or UK, your data may be transferred outside your country. MailerLite maintains appropriate safeguards for such transfers in accordance with GDPR requirements.

Children's Privacy

Our content is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe we have done so inadvertently, please contact us and we will address it immediately.

Changes To This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and notify our newsletter subscribers. We won't quietly rewrite the rules.
